Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091204 Thunderbird/3.0

When you use an email alias like Dev_team@company.com to send an email to a group of people. Everyone in the Dev_team receive the mail with From field "senderemail@company.com" and To field "Dev_team@company.com".

In Thunderbird 2 if 2 people send a message to same Email "Dev_Team@company.com" with the exact same subject ( Ex "December 2009", "Week 45", "Ticket xxx" ) all received messages were sorted in thread like if the 2nd,3rd.. were a reply to the first received.

In Thunderbird 3 every message with same subject and same receiver is display like individual Mail.

I really like the Thunderbird 2 sorting way. Outlook behave the same way as thunderbird 3, but for me it was one of the feature which make me move to thunderbird after Netscape instead of Outlook.

Reproducible: Always
How were your display settings in 2.0, the same as in 3.0 ? (View -> Sort By ?)
Component: General → Folder and Message Lists
QA Contact: general → folders-message-lists
Yes, the sort options are the same.

My Mailing list mail are moved to the same directory with thunderbird 2 and 3. All mails received with TB 2 are in thread, all received after moved to TB 3 are at the same Level.

All my Bugzilla mails which used my email in the TO field are correctly sorted in thread.
What is the value of mail.thread_without_re ?
Thank for the tip with that https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Message_Threading I've done some more tests.

With all TB3 default setting I've my issue
With mail.thread_without_re set=true same issue
with mail.thread_without_re set=true and mail.strict_threading=false same issue

Seams a good hint but I haven't found a way to have TB2 way of threading yet
My mistake After closing and reoppening folder before receiving the messages it's ok now.

mail.thread_without_re=true
mail.strict_threading=false

It works as before as said in the wiki

Thank you
