This search should default to the latest public version (3.0).
Can you be specific about where this is default to 1.0? It looks like it's defaulting to "Any" in the advanced search dropdown on https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird
Hm, I got 1.0 before but it looks like I can't repro anymore.
