User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7
Build Identifier: Version 2.0.0.23 (20090812)
When I try to forward a specific mail, the last to characters of this mail used instead of the newline-characters. In addition, this two characters can't be typed into the adress-bar or the search-bar. The displaying of all other mails is affected as well and even functions like view-source don't work anymore. If for example "v" is one of the characters, then view-source will produce an errormessage with "iwe-source" protocol is unknown (or something like that, the important part is, that the "v" is missing).
This strange behavior stays until a restart of thunderbird.
You can reproduce the behavior with this eml-file:
X-Sympa-To: invalid@invalid.invalid
Return-Path: <invalid@invalid.invalid>
Date: Sat, 16 Jan 2010 19:13:36 +0100
From: invalid@invalid.invalid
To: invalid@invalid.invalid
Subject: dummy
MIME-Version: 1.0
Content-Type: text/plain;
charset=ISO-8859-1;
DelSp="Yes";
format="flowed"
Content-Disposition: inline
Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable
öäv.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. open eml-file
2. forward it
Actual Results:
"v" doesnt work anymore in adress-bar, search-bar,...
Expected Results:
behave normaly
this bug occured with the german version of Thunderbird (Win XP SP3 also german).

Does it happens if you run thunderbird in -safemode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?

Yes, it also happens in safe-mode. I made sure thunderbirds not running, switched to safe-mode, confirmed being in safe-mode in the addons-menu ant it still happens. I tried it on an other german Win XP SP 3 intallation with Thunderbird 2.0.0.23 but different settings (and no addons) and it also occured - even in save-mode.

I don't know if this helps: The error-log gets no entry when this behavior starts, but viewing source produces an error (something like "iwe-source is not a registered protocol", see bug description) and this is written to the log:
Fehler: uncaught exception: [Exception... "Component returned failure code: 0x804b0012 [nsIWebNavigation.loadURI]" nsresult: "0x804b0012 (<unknown>)" location: "JS frame :: chrome://global/content/viewSource.js :: viewSource :: line 141" data: no]

I have provided the eml-File. I also uploaded an image, showing some of the effects. In addition, I tested Thunderbird 3 (english) today and the bug does NOT appear in Thunderbird 3.
I also asked a frind of mine, using ubuntu with thunderbird 2, if he could reproduce the bug. He could not, because his thunderbird just crashed when he tries to open the mail. I gave him the link to this bug, maybe he writes some more detailed comments about his experiences.

Is there any information I can provide to help to get this bus fixed? The bug may be not that important, but now that I made this bugreport, it would be very nice if the bug gets fixed and therefore I have done something to make the world a little more better :)

That's bug 528055, but I don't know if it has anything to do with this problem.

can you reproduce this using a current version of thunderbird?
if you are unable to reproduce, please close by setting stats to resolved, and resolution to WORKSFORME or another appropriate setting.
If you are able to reproduce, add new details, and a testcase if one does not already exist in the bug report.

Well, tried to fwd the buggy message. Result: My Thunderbird (Ubuntu 10.04, TB Version 3.1.19) just died instantly. So, yes, the bug is still there. And no, I won't test it with another version, that's your part :)
