Just noticed what I thought was an odd ligature while composing an email, turned out to be my quote marks overlaid onto the rest of the text.

No idea why this happens, but it's very easy to reproduce.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose a new message.
2. Write a word or sentence surrounded by quotes. ex: "Test text"
3. Highlight the test text and italicize it. 
Actual Results:  
The quote marks will still display, but it's as though they occupy no space. Other letters will write over them.

Expected Results:  
Kept everything the same, just italized

I don't see that on Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; en-US; rv:1.9.2pre) Gecko/20100118 Lanikai/3.1a1pre.

Can you try in -safe-mode (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Safe_mode) ?

I just tried it in safe mode & had the same issue. Here is a small screenshot showing the same line of text (the one I was actually writing when I noticed the issue), one italicized, the other not: http://schuylertowne.com/italic-quote-issue.png

This bug has been around long enough, and still happens on the latest & greatest version. Let's confirm and get started on a fix.
