While the nick-completion is a pretty cool feature, it always appends a "," to the nick. If the completion is happening at the very start of the input-buffer/text-area, then it should probably be appended with a ":", as this is what most people want to use; in other circumstances, it would append a "," like it does now. There should also be some way of doing a completion with no character appended (Shift-Tab? Escape?), and some prefrences for controlling how all this acts.
Chatzilla appends a ", " if the nick you are completeing is the first word in the input line. If you nick complete in the middle of a sentance, no character is added. Personally, I prefer ", " over ": ", so that's why the default is ", ", you can make it a ": " instead by typing "/eval client.ADDRESSED_NICK_SEP = ": "; in any window. Unfortunatley, this isn't a pref yet, so you'll have to type it each time you start Chatzilla. It would be trivial to make it a pref, by editing http://lxr.mozilla.org/mozilla/source/extensions/irc/xul/content/readprefs.js, I just havn't done it yet. Resummarizing.
