Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; U; Intel Mac OS X 10.6; en-US; rv:1.9.2pre) Gecko/20100121 Lanikai/3.1b1pre When reading newsgroups, I like to hit the space bar to move through the postings. There are three phases: 1. Hit Spacebar to move down a screen inside a posting. 2. At the end of the posting, I hit the Spacebar to get to the next unread message in the newsgroup. 3. At the end of the newsgroup, I want to hit the Spacebar to get to the next unread message in the next newsgroup. Items 1 and 2 work as expected, however 3 does not. At the end of the last page of the last unread message in a newsgroup, if you hit the Spacebar, it will ask: ---- Confirm Advance to next unread message in mozilla.support.thunderbird? (No) (Yes) ---- Actual results: If you hit the Spacebar again, the client will activate the No button. Expected results: If you hit the Spacebar again, the client should activate the Yes button. This used to be the model in the old Communicator newsreader.
Duplicate of a bug talking about how the correct change in behavior between Gecko 1.8 and 1.9, to have space activate a different button than it used to so that now you have to hit enter to select the (focused but not default? default but not focused?) button is a pain. Of course, once you know that the pref in question is "mailnews.nav_crosses_folders" then mxr will tell you that you just want to change that pref to 0 so that you won't have to see the "OMG, you're going to *change folders*!!1! [The Horror! Save me!] [I'm Brave Enough, Change Folders!]" dialog at all, no matter what button behavior in it is actually platform-correct.

See also Bug 545218 for a related issue. The issue there is not whether the space bar triggers one or another button in the dialogue, but rather that hitting OK does not work, even when hit by a stroke of the left mouse button.
