Users of the EU Browser Ballot will be linked to a special Firefox Support start page created specifically for browser ballot users. The page will be a tweaked version of the current start page (mozms2). Some details are still being discussed. The differences between this and mozms2: * Instead of "Need Help with Firefox?" put "Welcome to Firefox!" * The text below "Need Help with Firefox?" needs to be changed. We're still working on the text. For now, we use the same text minus "You've come to the right place!" * We are also going to use a different module for the sidebar, but I think that can be done via the admin panel. (putting it in this bug just in case it requires backend changes)

Summary: Create stylesheet for EU Ballot start page → Create template for EU Ballot start page
Still haven't decided on text, including the heading...
Here's what we decided: * Replace "Need Help with Firefox?" with "Welcome to Firefox Help!" * Replace "You've come to the right place!" with "Need Help with Firefox?". The rest will stay the same. * We're going to create a separate search content block. We didn't discuss the name of it. Right now, I'd say, replace HomeSearchTerms with WindowsSearchTerms.
Target Milestone: --- → 1.5.2
WindowsSearchTerms sounds good to me. To summarize, the text above the search box should be the following: ---- Welcome to Firefox Help! Need help with Firefox? Start by searching our site below, or browse our list of popular support articles. If you can't find the answer you need, our community volunteers are ready to help you find a solution. ---- Once this template is up on stage, we will then make sure to assign a separate module for the sidebar so we can customize the "New to Firefox?" box as well. Please make this a priority as we would like to freeze the l10n efforts asap. As soon as we can verify that things look good on stage, we can reach out to localizers with a (short) list of strings to localize in addition to the articles that are already en-US frozen. Thanks!

Attached patch v1, symlinks + minify (obsolete) — — Splinter Review
Steps: 1. Apply this patch. 2. Ensure the following are proper symlinks to the corresponding mozms2 styles: webroot/styles/mozmswin7 webroot/styles/mozmswin7.css webroot/templates/styles/mozmswin7 3. cp scripts/minify/minify.conf.php.dist scripts/minify/minify.conf.php 4. Create a new page with the same content as the homepage (I went to /tiki-editpage.php?locale=en-US&page=win7homepage) 5. Go to /tiki-theme_control_objects.php and assign it the new theme (mozmswin7.css) Load the page. It should look just like mozms2, but without a sidebar. 6. Assign some modules to the sidebar at: /tiki-admin_modules.php I assigned all the mozms2 ones except for promotebox, and created a new middle block instead. Tada!

Yes, I forgot the text changes to "Need help with Firefox?" section, and the search terms. This patch adds those.

Comment on attachment 425904 [details] [diff] [review] v2, added text changes Oh man, it took me forever to make all the symlinks into real symlinks. Works for me. Text looked good.
Commit ASAP please.

Setting Chris as QA contact. Chris, as soon as this has landed on stage, could you create the page there and verify that everything looks ok and report back here?

r62377 I kept a separate copy of trunk, so I didn't reapply the patch. However, just in case, when testing, please watch out for text that looks like a path e.g. <webroot/templates/mozmswin7/something.tpl> Chris, do you want to create the page and assign it the mozmswin7 theme? I can help if you want. Make sure to check out comment 4 for pointers. Filed bug 546475 for IT changes.

Just to some clarification: The lack of search box and site menu on https://support-stage.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Windows+start+page?bl=n is because we need bug 546475 right?
(In reply to comment #12) > The lack of search box and site menu on > https://support-stage.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Windows+start+page?bl=n is because > we need bug 546475 right? Yes, the css needs to be loaded.
Reopening to commit to branches/1.5.1_temp. Will re-resolve after patches are committed.
