When I select a link (view as plain text) and I reply, instead of replying quoting only the selected link, all message is quoted.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Select a message with a link in the body
2. From preview pane, select only the link 
3.Press CTRL+R to reply at the message
Actual Results:  
In the composition window it apears the whole message quoted.

Expected Results:  
Only the selected link is quoted in composition window

I have the message view as plain text
Are you using Thunderbird 2? You may want to upgrade to Thunderbird 3; this bug has been fixed in the intervening time. If you are using TB 3, please reopen this bug, as it would likely be an unexpected regression.

It doesn't seem a duplicate of bug 23394 to me, it's indeed a new bug.
You're right. This is indeed a new bug. I apologize for not noticing the key point: when selecting a link *and only a link*, reply quoting selected text doesn't work.

Fixing summary to make this a bit more clear to me.

For some reason, this behavior doesn't seem to show up when selecting a mailto: link.

That's on purpose. By default, reply selected only works if more than one words are selected (apparently the link counts as a single word). Try switching the mailnews.reply_quoting_selection.multi_word preference to false, then it will also give you the selected link as quote only on reply.

Selecting an e-mail address gives me the same behavior as with an http(s) link.

So, that's WFM for me (preference setting).
