User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Firefox has been causing my system to freeze up about every two hours of up time. This has been about the last tow weeks and I have been blaming other software for the problem. It is Firefox. Firefox becomes "non responsive" and will neither allow me to quit Firefox nor shut down gracefully. Reproducible: Couldn't Reproduce Steps to Reproduce: 1. It does it all by itself and never in the same place. 2. 3. Actual Results: Happens when using Firefox, email, news, yahoo and other links. Firefox goes non responsive and messes up everything. I can not even shut the system down gracefully and have to reset or turn off the computer. Isn't the above enough?
I have the latest Firefox and updates installed.

this is not a support website, this is for filing bugs. But normally your entire computer shouldn't hang (that is almost impossible), you should still be able to stop Firefox with the task manager (ctrl-alt-del)

Jo, Please notice I said that I have the latest updates installed. Also, I said that I had to hard start the computer. Please assume I have some sense and know how to use Ctrl-Alt-Del and the Task Manager. The problem was exactly as I described it. I have achieved what appears to be some success by removing Firefox and reinstalling it. I have installed V 3.5.2, not V 3.6 as I had when the problem started. At lease I have been able to keep Firefox from functionally locking my system for more than 2 hours. Before, it happened as frequently as every 20 minutes. My system did not "freeze" as per the older systems, but functionally it did. The mouse pointer still moved but it did little good. Also, I could still call up Solitaire and play that. Otherwise, my system was locked up and had to be hard started.
Well, if you could still open other programs that means the computer wasn't frozen. Were you able to kill firefox.exe via the task manager? And did you test in a new profile, and did you go and get the latest updates for your graphics cars (they often don't come through windows updates), sounds, network controllers, chipset, etc. Then, disable your firewall.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles Also, ensure you update all your plugins (Flash, Reader, java, quicktime, etc) to the latest version available on the vendor's website.
