It should be possible to open an account in a tab. What I mean by that: To have the normal 3-pane-window, but not with all accounts, but with only one account.

Mockup please? At first I thought you meant opening Account Settings in a tab, which is a reasonably good idea itself, but I gather you mean essentially opening a new tab and re-rooting its folder pane tree on the selected account or folder -- and, presumably, only allowing All Folders mode.

Can you elaborate a bit on the proposed use cases?

use case: preventing accidentally scrolling to the other accounts, especially less distraction ...

When I open several tabs for this, I end up with finally having all of them on inbox again ...

Bug 537677 would greatly simplify this. I'm tempted to mark it blocking this bug.

This would in my opinion be an awesome feature!

As much as I love TB, it irks me that I have to scroll down to get to my 4th e-mail account and it's sub-folders
