This bug tracks the localization of the browserchoice.mozilla.com
website, a.k.a. the 'Learn More' page of the European Browser Ballot campaign, into Dutch.
Please see bug 546131 and https://wiki.mozilla.org/L10n:Browserchoice for details and instructions.
The ballot update will go live as a pilot in Dutch (and French) on Tuesday, February 23rd. For testing purposes, we would like to get Dutch by Thursday, February 18th, but if you can't make it by then, please plan to be ready on Monday, February 22nd.
Thanks!

Moet lukken.
Comment 4•15 years ago

Gaat het lukken voor vanavond?
De volledig ingevulde en gecorrigeerde versie staat al hier in elk geval:

Hey guys. I had to update the English source content with new quotes (replacing bubble_* placeholders), which resulted in removing your quotes (because whole placeholder strings were removed, together with translations).
Here's the diff: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/browserchoice/trunk/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po?r1=62293&r2=62514#h53
Would you mind re-adding these quotes, please? Or if you prefer, I can do this, too.
Thanks.

One more thing. Please note that the quotation marks ("") are now part of the string and translation. This way you can use your language's punctuation rules.

Dank je voor de aanpassingen, ik heb ze verwerkt in Verbatim. (let er wel op als je een po met een teksteditor bewerkt dat je niet de engelse string overschrijft zoals bij "%s voor windows", dat geeft problemen ;-))
Stas;
the .po in this bug is imported in Verbatim and you can use the version as it is now in Verbatim.

Stas does it update from verbatim, because the stage show still the old strings?

Tim, it take several minutes due to the cache settings for the stage. I see the strings here:
http://svn.mozilla.org/projects/browserchoice/trunk/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po
and, just visited the URL you pasted above and see the translation.

Let me correct that, I don't see the English quotes updated. Were you guys able to update the quotes in Verbatim? That might be what you are referring to above. Sorry if that is the case and I am repeating what needs to be done. I don't see the translation for those quotes in SVN. So, we might need to push the file from Verbatim.

Hey guys,
You need to "commit to VCS" from Verbatim: http://localize.mozilla.org/verbatim/nl/browserchoice/LC_MESSAGES/edit.html
Otherwise your translations are only in Verbatim but not in the SVN (nor on stage). Once you commit, your translations will show up here: http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/browserchoice/trunk/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po and should be visible on stage after 15 minutes.

There was a compilation error which I fixed in r62632. Gettext was complaining about double definition of the same string or something like that. Should be OK now. I'll confirm in 15 minutes.

Ah, there you go: http://browserchoice.stage.mozilla.com/nl/
Thanks for updating the quotes!

I’m afraid one error slipped in today: ‘Privacy icon’ should be ‘Privacypictogram’ (we _never_ use ‘icoon’ on _any_ Mozilla product or web page).

fixed : http://viewvc.svn.mozilla.org/vc/projects/browserchoice/trunk/locale/nl/LC_MESSAGES/messages.po?r1=62632&r2=62708
should be on stage in 15 min

Hey guys,
I had to merge your translation with a slightly updated reference file. Two
strings were marked as fuzzy as a result. Could you take a look at them,
please?
Feel free to mark this bug as fixed when you're done.
Thanks,
Staś

Actually, both the English "Learn More : %s" as well as our "Meer lezen : %s" should be "Learn More: %s" and "Meer lezen: %s" respectively.
__Only__ the French language has a habit of putting spaces in front of ‘:’ and some other chars (which is understood by e.g. hu in this case, see their .po). A common error in translations, and probably introduced here by a Frenchman? ;)
Comment 26•15 years ago

it's not a habit, it's a strict typography rule in French :p
And no Frenchman was involved in the creation of the template ;)

I think it's more of a decorator than a proper punctuation mark. This could just as well be:
Learn more | %s
Learn more << %s
Learn more - %s
and others.

Yes, that thought crossed my mind as well. If so, a - would have been a better option.

So are we going to change it?
