Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Create new message and attach a file. Actual Results: Icon next to attachment looks like a folder icon. Expected Results: System registered icon for this kind of file type.
This bug's symptoms sound somewhat like bug 526163; if they're the same bug, please resolve it as Duplicate. Otherwise, what version of Thunderbird are you using? If it's in the 2.x series, I recommend switching (http://www.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/thunderbird/). I'm unable to reproduce with Thunderbird 3 on Vista [Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100216 Lightning/1.0b1 Thunderbird/3.0.2 ID:20100216161403]. Also, are you using the default theme and in Safe Mode (https://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode)? Themes (or extensions, for that matter) can change the icons from the default.
