User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2) Gecko/20100115 Firefox/3.6 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2pre) Gecko/20100302 Lanikai/3.1b1 I'm running a litmus test where only the get mail, write and address book icon should be visible on the toolbar. There are three separators (vertical dividers) to the right of the address book icon. I was able to remove them by customizing the toolbar, but that caused the search field to increase its size, it now takes up the remainder of the toolbar. It sounds petty, but I do not like having the search field take the remainder of the toolbar because I like to see the background from personna (yes I know that is not working yet with this build) and I don't need that large a search field. I tried to reduce its size by restoring the separators, no effect. Regardless, there should not be three separators. There should be none, though I guess you could make an argument for one. According to the migration assistant I'm running the original toolbar. Switching to the new toolbar causes another problem, which I'll document in a different bug Reproducible: Always

Thanks much for your help running litmus tests! My suspicion from reading this bug is that we wouldn't block on it, so marking blocking- for now. That said, I don't really have a good feel for this, so you should feel free to attach a screenshot and link to the litmus test in question and renominate...

Added 548457 to blocks field (rather than setting blocking-thunderbird3.1, sorry about that) based on new instructions to testers.
Blocks: 548457
do we need to update the test to include the search field? anyway, as far as size, this may be a dup of Bug 515648 - [faceted search] Make the size of Gloda searchbar customizable

While it would be very nice to be able to customize the size of the search field, I was really documenting the fact that I couldn't get it back to the original size. That is a bug due to side effects of eliminating the separators, not an enhancement request. It stayed stuck at that size even using 3.0.3. As an experiment I ran 2.0.0.23 (which doesn't have that field) and then 3.0.3. That restored the size to normal for 3.0.3 (half the width of the folder listing). That fix also worked for 3.1 beta 1 (its back to half the width of the folder screen too, rather than taking the rest of the toolbar). All those versions share the same profile.
Eric, what exactly are your steps to reproduce, and the litmus test id? for example are you starting with a new profile? I'd suspect bug 515648 is s prerequisite to fixing the size issue. That said, is this bug about the 3 separators (and if so, can you still reproduce) or the size issue? I can reproduce the badly sized search widget. Eric, what aspects of this do you still see when using version 5 or newer?
