User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US) AppleWebKit/533.2 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/5.0.342.8 Safari/533.2 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-GB; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100317 Thunderbird/3.0.4 It would be helpful to have some documentation for the syntax of the "Search all messages" option. It would be good to have options for building more complex queries. E.g. "to:Bob AND body:agenda item%" E.g. "sent:after 1/1/2010" Explorer in Windows Vista and Windows 7 has quite a nice syntax like this in its "search" boxes. Perhaps this could be an inspiration. Reproducible: Always Expected Results: Ability to locate desired message quickly and easily.
So we provide this http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Global+Search for documentation - what do you think is missing there ? , should the documentation be different ? We have a rule of one issue per bug. I'm pretty some of the enhancement you propose are already in bugzilla (have a look at those bugs http://ur1.ca/tvaa) - add yourself on those that are already filled and create new bugs for those that are missing.
Thanks for the link to other bugs. I did search previously, but I now see that there are two similar, but not identical suggestions: Bug #538821 (and #537915 but it's not so good). I apologise for the confusing title. I am describing a single issue - the support for an extended search syntax. I used the phrase "document and enhance" so as not to offend anyone if all this was actually implemented "under the hood", but not written up anywhere. Thanks to the link you sent, I see that there is no such feature yet. I'm happy for you to change the bug title if that's possible.
