Build 2000100620 Win98 A single click on a bookmark in the sidebar opens the bookmark's url. It works with left or right click. Which is annoying since you can't open the properties of a bookmark without having it loaded in the window.
COnfirming this is happening on my win32 build 20001006020. However I feel that this should be fixed only to disable the right click context loading in window. ie. one (left)click on bookmark still loads the new URL- this would be consistent with Bookmarks menu and Bookmarks personal toolbar . Related to <A HREF="show_bug.cgi?id=55553" bug 55553. </A>
I do not agree : single clicking will make moving bookmarks less practical and user-friendly (not to mention anybody who wants to move some bookmarks while not connected...)
Managing bookmarks is a good point. However if you look at the behaviour of IE for example, a single click on the bookmark will go to that address, but if you drag the bookmark above or below the bookmark next to it, the bookmark will be relocated without going to the address of the bookmark. Therefore I feel that a single click should not have to impact on bookmark management.
After being forced to use mozilla withi this comportment, I'm getting kind of used to and begin to like it. Anyway moving a bookmark does not cause the bookmark to be loaded. So single clicking a bookmark is not bad after all. I'll change summary to say that right clicking a bookmark should not load it.
Summary: In sidebar, single click opens bookmark → In sidebar, single right-click opens bookmark

Confirming (coming from bug 56234) since I see this with 2000-10-11-21-Mtrunk/i686-pc-linux-gnu suggest OS=ALL and probably Platform=ALL.
marking this as a dupe of newer bug 56190. That bug is correctly assinged and the owner is waiting to checkin a fix. The discussion here about single vs. double-click is a long ago fought battle and was clearly settled. It won't be entertained in this release (probably not any time soon either) and the dicussion simply distracts from fixing the real bugs. You can read the history of that discussion by looking at browser bugs with 'click', 'sidebar', and 'bookmarks' in the summary. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of 56190 ***
