User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS i86pc; en-US; rv:1.9.1.8) Gecko/20100226 Firefox/3.5.8 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; SunOS i86pc; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100214 Thunderbird/3.0.1 Currently, when collapsing a series of e-mails within a single thread, the information displayed in the message list only applies to the first e-mail in the thread. Instead, it should show summary information about the whole thread. This is more in-line with user expectations and with the way that GMail implements message threading. In particular, the following columns should have this behavior: 1. The Date field should show the date of the most recent message in the thread instead of the first date. Fortunately, Thunderbird is smart enough to sort the Date based on the most recent date instead of the visible date. 2. The Size field should show the sum of the sizes of all the messages in the thread instead of just the size of the first message. This is especially important when sorting by size to find the biggest e-mail message to delete so that the server quota is met. A work-around is to turn off threading, and then sort by Size, but this can make it harder to manage. 3. The other fields (e.g., From and Recipient fields) should be a union of the corresponding fields of all messages in the thread. Reproducible: Always
This looks like a superset of bug 548816 -- one of the bugs is probably a duplicate (in effect) and should be resolved as such.
