Sounds precise enough that it should be either confirmed or wontfixed, unless it has been done already.

I've just confirmed with licensing that Thunderbird's logos are handled in the same way as Firefox - they are, so we can go ahead with this.

Just digging through the buglist looking for low-hanging fruit, this looks pretty easy, but like previous comments, I have to ask, does it need doing still? It looks like Thunderbird's current directory structure currently mirrors this much closer than Firefox's did back when their version of this was fixed. It looks like all we need to do in Thunderbird's case is rename mail/branding/thunderbird to mail/branding/official. Though in my opinion it doesn't make as much sense here because there doesn't appear to be an "unofficial" variant that it needs to be distinguished from, like Firefox has.
