Looks like the Shockwave plugin has no name or description, I guess we could fall back to the filename in that case.

This can't be the fault of the Shockwave plugin. It's working fine for me. I wonder if the pluginreg.dat from Marcia is somehow corrupted.

64 bit builds do have issues with plugins, so perhaps that is the root cause.

Ah I hadn't noticed that, that is similar to something I saw when using a 64-bit build

Ok, so this bug should be about 10.6 then. Thanks Marcia!

Agreed - but I'd like that done in the API (plugin provider).

I had just the same problem with Thunderbird 3.2a1pre, but not with FF 4.0 (32bit and 64bit) on 10.6. So I was wondering, why I've seen the plugin in the plugin list of FF, but not in TB. I've hacked the Info.plist of the plugin, but this didn't help. After deleting the pluginreg.dat from TB, it now also works for TB. So it seems my pluginreg.dat was somehow corrupted.
Before it was:
DirectorShockwave.plugin:$
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/DirectorShockwave.plugin:$
11.5.7r609:$
1272547663000:0:5:$
:$

Now it is:
DirectorShockwave.plugin:$
/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/DirectorShockwave.plugin:$
11.5.7r609:$
1272547663000:0:1:$
Adobe Director Shockwave Plugin:$
Director Shockwave 11.5.7r609:$
