User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.3) Gecko/20100423 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.3 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.9) Gecko/20100423 Thunderbird/3.0.4 When I manually cancel the sending of a message while it is in process of connecting to the mail server, it displays the 'Send Message Error' dialog box, asking me to check the account settings and to try again. I feel this notification is out of place. Perhaps a better dialog box (or none at all) would be better if the sending is manually canceled. PS: I often have to cancel sending my mails because at the last minute I realize that I am using my personal account to send the mail instead of the official one. Can anyone suggest someway this does not happen? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a compose mail box. 2. Click Send mail button. 3. While the sending is in process, click the 'Cancel' button. Actual Results: 'Send message error' dialogue box pops up. Expected Results: No notification, perhaps. Or notification if the message was irrevocably sent before I clicked cancel.
As it now stands, you can always tell whether the mail was sent or not; if it was not sent, it will pop up an error message box to say that "Sending of the message failed" etc, while if it was sent, it will say that "Copying of the message to the Sent folder failed" and ask if you want to retry. Ideally, the message boxes would be changed to indicate that the mail-send had been canceled, and clarify whether the cancel was successful or not. > PS: I often have to cancel sending my mails because at the last minute I > realize that I am using my personal account to send the mail instead of the > official one. Can anyone suggest someway this does not happen? Try Correct Identity <https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/1203> or Identity Chooser <https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/56935>; there are a couple others if you search for "identity", but those are two I've tried.
