We briefly discussed setting up some hardware for the Mozilla Foundation that I would be primarily responsible for maintaining (similar to what zandr has for Labs), thus allowing us access to hardware resources without having to put extra burden on IT. What would it take to start the provisioning process?

Minimally, a single server running Virtuozzo. Your traffic is low enough that I don't think it makes a lot of sense to spend money on firewalls and load balancers. I think that's something Mozilla IT can manage and you'll just manage the host and VEs. Let me know your thoughts there.
That sounds fine to me. If we ever get to a point where we're generating more traffic we can revisit, but that's not our primary concern right now.
hardware is in transit, think zandr's running with the master plan here

We have hardware on the way. Labs and MoFo each get a pair of big machines (12-core, 48GB ram, 6TB disk) for running VMs. and we'll put all of this behind the Labs Zeus. Paul- Any strong opinions on VM technologies? I'm leaning towards KVM, but am open to suggestions.
Zandr - No strong opinions on VM tech. KVM is a-ok with me.
These are at MPT waiting to be set up.

(hung up on power)
Need PDUs for the last two boxes, not really blocking setup (zandr has this task)
