Alex is going to do a short 3 minute video on the overview of the UI, but touching specifically on:
1) Hope Tab
2) Apps Tabs
3) Tabs on Top
4) Firefox Button
5) Switch to Tab

We need this live for the June 22nd beta launch date, so it would be great to have this done by June 17th.

Thanks

Bug 571274 was just filed for a similarly sized project during the same time period. We can't expect rainer to do both of these plus the mobile video for Caitlin (bug 569636) during the same 4 day period.

Questions:
- which video is most important
- which, if any, could we delay to buy time for the other videos?
- can we get more notice next time?
And, of course -- if we're out of options and have to get external help let's do that sooner than later so we can get this stuff done.
> - which video is most important
Faaborg, according to rainer, could potentially film and edit the piece
himself. So, i think it's really only one video from our side. faaborg, can
you confirm? Worst case scenario, Mayumi and I can film!

> - which, if any, could we delay to buy time for the other videos?
Really then, rainer just needs to worry about the Welcome video from our side.
> - can we get more notice next time?
Absolutely.
The other problem I see with this is that it's going to require actual screen footage of the UI, which might be late in coming.

IMO this video can be done without Rainer's involvement, it'll just require a Screenflow license for Faaborg who can narrate as he does a screencast of what's going on. Bonus marks for pictures of his pretty face, but the key value prop here is a quick visual overview of what's different.
I'm fine with working on the Firefox UI video (after effects with audio narration on screen cap or mockups). I wouldn't mind Rainer's help with setting up lighting for a quick video shoot of me introducing it though (~15 seconds of footage).

quick update: video is in progress and should be done late today
Attached image Export settings for FLV
I need to know the exact export settings for the FLV fall back video. Let me know if I should change anything.

Also, for Theora I'm planning to export at 852px × 480px
Here's all of the files for the UI video:

http://people.mozilla.com/~faaborg/temp/beta1/

That should be everything you need, but If for some reason you need to re-encode anything, this is the source file to use:

http://people.mozilla.com/~faaborg/temp/beta1/userInterface-beta1-720.mp4
Alex--awesome video! I'll upload this to http://videos-cdn.mozilla.net/
We also need to upload this video to YouTube--Alex, can you send me the file (yousendit or whatever you want to use?)

Thanks!
Laura, when uploading the video to the firefoxchannel on YouTube, be sure to use this file, it's supposed to have the exact settings for the best quality on YouTube:

http://people.mozilla.com/~faaborg/temp/beta1/userInterface-beta1-720.mp4
Thanks Alex--

here's the video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Nx-qWHdTOQ

Not public yet, but it looks fantastic!

yep, looks good. Steven: let me know if the FLV fallback video was created correctly.
New files with a much better audio bitrate:

Laura: I tested uploading this file to YouTube:

http://people.mozilla.com/~faaborg/temp/beta1/betterAudio/userInterface-beta1-720-320.mp4

this was the result:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-GGINh5cxDc

audio seems considerably crisper than the earlier files, not sure why Premiere uses only 64kbps as the default for their YoutTube HD setting but it seems to be a bad idea.
Awesome--I will upload this better version tonight.

Thanks for doing that Alex!
Just uploaded the new version up to YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EGChvBRdRmw
