I'm sure I found an important BUG,  if i set the main code , when i open the thunderbird,it appears one window which ask me to input the main code.  i dont input the main code but pressed the ESC key continuously . OK, the windows dispeared ,now ,i can see all the mail without main code!  but if i getMessage the window need inputing main code will appear again.
i think it's very important!! 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.set the main code
2.reopen thunderbird
3.without inputing main code, but press ESC continuously .then the window dispear!

The master code does not protect the content of the mails, only the passwords. This will prevent you from sending or receiving mails, but doesn't prevent you from reading the mails which are already on your hard disk. But you don't need Thunderbird for that, as you can read the files anyway.

see bug 16489 / bug 35308 if you want to protect the content of the mail folders (which will make the application slower as a side effect).
