User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b3pre) Gecko/20100731 Minefield/4.0b3pre Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:2.0b3pre) Gecko/20100731 Minefield/4.0b3pre When I navigate to certain URLs with flash content, the page (and browser controls) hangs for several seconds. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Navigate to http://www.newquayweather.com/ 2.Set pref. 'dom.ipc.plugins.enabled' to 'TRUE'. 2.Select 'Live Weather' from the LH menu 3.Try to click on any of the Firefox control buttons Actual Results: Firefox 'freezes' for several seconds before releasing control on buttons and other controls. Expected Results: Flas page should appear and should be possible to navigate away form the page or operate other browser controls immediately. Seen with fresh profile. Default Theme. no Add-ons other than Flash plugin version 10.1r53 Effect is not seen if I disable OOPP (set pref. 'dom.ipc.plugins.enabled' to 'FALSE').
Version: unspecified → Trunk
Note: This effect is NOT seen with Firefox 4b1
Further Hardware/Software details: CPU: AMD Athlon XP-M, 1870MHz Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 3 Ti200 Slackware 12.1 Linux kernel: 2.6.24.6 Nvidia Legacy Driver: 96.43.05 XOrg version: 1.4.2 Cairo Version: 1.8.8
Summary: [OOPP] Flash Page Hangs with Flash Page → [OOPP] Flash Page Hangs with Flash Page (after landing of retained layers)
Also noted very high CPU usage when navigating to the test link in the above 'Description'. This is even when OOPP is disabled for all plugins. I guess this is why the effect is more noticeable on low-end PC hardware.
Summary: [OOPP] Flash Page Hangs with Flash Page (after landing of retained layers) → [OOPP] Flash Page Hangs and High CPU Usage with Flash Page (after landing of retained layers)

This is not only on Linux. Mine is: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0b6pre) Gecko/20100901 Firefox/4.0b6pre And for example this page www.zive.cz is completely unbrowsable during and a while after loading.

This is fixed for me by bug 556487 and bug 598112. It returns if I set mozilla.plugins.use_layers to false. Bill, are you seeing expected behavior?
Depends on: 556487, 598112
(In reply to comment #12) > > Bill, are you seeing expected behavior? Yes, this is now fixed for me (build tested: BuildID=20100930031320) and behaviour is as expected on the 'test URL'. Many thanks.
Thank you, Bill.
