We need to enable the localization of SUMO in Armenian [hy-AM]. Armen, this is one of the better places to get the community to help out directly. And, Armen, we'd need "Armenian" in Armenian again to set this up, please add that here, utf-8 encoded. Thanks.

The website is broken. 1) Visit http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Translating+articles 2) Create an account 3) Logged in 4) Follow "account preferences" link (http://support.mozilla.com/tiki-user_preferences.php?locale=en-US) 5) I can modify my preferences What it actually happens is that it sends me back to the login page instead of allow me change my status as "contributor". I have also tried to localize a page but Armenian does not appear on the list of proposed languages. Is this a bug for somebody from WebDev to add Armenian as a language?

Please read the initial comment. We need to know what to call Armenian for webdev to enable it on sumo.

If we have the localized language name before our code freeze for 2.2.3, this will go out by the end of the month.

Hi James,
This should do it:
Հայերեն (it is read hayeren which means Armenian in Armenian)
How can I know that it is utf-8 encoded?
I did this in python from a page I have found:
>>> import codecs
>>> fileObj = codecs.open("text","r","utf-8")
>>> u = fileObj.read()
>>> u
u'\u0540\u0561\u0575\u0565\u0580\u0565\u0576\n'
Is this ^^ the string you wanted?

Hi Paul, is this bug done? or are we waiting for a sumo update? Thanks, Armen

It's not done. Is this urgent, or can it wait? We don't have a set date for the next push at the moment. Probably a few weeks.
Comment 8•14 years ago
|

Not urgent. *I* (waving hand) bet that as long as it happens before FF4.0 ships (check with l10n-drivers to know expectations for other locales). I bet there is more locales than just Armenian looking to be part of SUMO. Thanks for the info.

Adds Armenian and Akah (see bug 586383). Don't forget to enable the locales at tiki-admin.php?page=i18n

r74894 on trunk. Leaving this open as the django/kitsune side still needs to land as well.
