User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100722 Firefox/3.6.8 GTB7.1 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Thunderbird 3.1.2
When trying to open a new email to read the email opens but keeps opening in tab after tab after tab and doesn't stop unless I End Task and close out Thunderbird. When I re-open I have the numerous tabs are still there but have stopped replicating. I have to close each tab and then delete that email. Happens every day to regular emails. Seems to migrate over to Mozilla as well in that Mozilla will begin to open tab after tab of the same related link.
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open an email - That is it.
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Results - The email will not stop opening in multiple tabs until I end Thunderbird with the Task Manager
Expected Results:
I can reopen Thunderbird however the multiple opened tabs are still there but no longer replicating. I have to close them out. Since the replication is instant their are as many as 25 tabs open with the same email.

Anything in Tools -> Error console when this happens ?
Does it happens if you start Thunderbird in -safe-mode (http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode) ?
I have a somewhat similar problem. I have been receiving multiple copies of the same email (originally received in Dec. 2010)everyday. They come in banks ranging in number from 3 to 30. This only happens with one specific email. I have a screen shot I can attach, but don't see a way to do that.
