In short:
Whey don't you make possible to disable old style tabbar if you believe tabcandy is better way to manage tabs?

Details:
Old tabbar is 1 dimension and we cannot easily remember where the specific tab is or cannot easily categorize them. Tree Style Tabs make it easy to categorize but still difficult to remember where the specific tab is.
With TabCandy, we can easily remember where the specific tab is since we can keep the tab, top-left or bottom-right for example.

If TabCandy is better to manage pages, we should be able to use only it, without old style tab management (tabbar). Users should be able to disable tabbar.

"No tabbar mode" is not possible just to hide tabbar but also need some behavior change of TabCandy.

For example
In "No tabbar mode", when we click on a group (not on a tab in the group) TabCandy should not show previously selected tab in the group. TabCandy should show the tab only when we click on a tab.

Even if you couldn't agree with the idea, TabCandy should have flexibility to make this possible by extensions.

Punting to the future. This would also be a good place for an add-on to step in.
Target Milestone: --- → Future
Panorama has been removed from Firefox 45, currently in Beta and scheduled for release on March 7th. As such, I'm closing all existing Panorama bugs.

If you are still using Panorama, you will see a deprecation message in Firefox 44, and when 45 is released your tab group data will be migrated to bookmarks, with a folder for each group. There are also a few addons offering similar functionality.

See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tab-groups-removal for more info.

We're removing Panorama because it has extremely low usage (about 0.01% of users), and has a large number of bugs and usability issues. The cost of fixing all those issues is far too high to justify, and so we'll instead be focusing our time and energy on improving other parts of Firefox.
