Youtube launches inside home? ; safari launches inside home? Regression : Bug 573608 encountered, current behavior: home quits nothing happens. Need to ask.
Note that this is not something that has been implemented for 1.0.3. It is scheduled to be put in 1.0.4. YouTube and Maps links open in the in-app browser of Home. If this is not the case, then attach the following information to this bug: * Your device type * Your OS version * The Bookmark that you are trying to open?
Reopned this bug since it is not supposed to be resolved.

* device : iPod Touch * OS version : 3.1.3 * bookmark : http://maps.google.com
Flags: blocking-fx-home1.0.4+
This will introduce new strings, so we'll need them localized.

Verified fix with iOS3.1.3 on FF Home 1.0.4b2. Tested against youtube, safari, google maps, and telephone numbers However, mailto links do not launch a email app. Will file a separate bug for it.

I have a 3GS running iOS4 and Fx Home 1.0.4b4 and maps links (maps.google.com) open in Safari (or in the integrated web viewer if open in Safari pref is turned off).
Can you give me a full URL? Maybe I missed a case. To be sure: your settings are: Use Native Apps: ON Open Pages in Safari: either ON or OFF
I tried this one: http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=116379312937710230845.000463be6791c370a4803 and http://maps.google.com (typing it in manually in the search bar) Settings - both use native apps and open in Safari are on.
Verified with iPhone 3 GS on iOS 4: The maps app doesn't seem to come up with Native Apps turned on at all. Having both Native Apps and Safari on will cause Safari to be picked over the Native Apps. Having Native Apps on and Safari off will open safari inside home and goes to maps.google.com instead of opening the maps app. (checked by killing maps app and going back to home)

I noticed something odd about Youtube as well. I am unsure if this is expected; I am placing this comment in as there is a slight inconsistency : a) going to www.youtube.com and then opening up a video will open youtube video inside Home vs b) going to a direct video link in home to a youtube video will open up the youtube app within home, hitting the back button will take you back inside home after hitting done. Both were with the settings of Native Apps on and Safari off.
Michael, with regard to the Google Maps links: Both links that you tried do not actually trigger the Maps application. This is because the iOS does not recognize them as Google Maps links. Only links that have a hostname of maps.google.com and a path of /maps, /local or /m are opened by iOS in the Maps application. The same is true for just http://maps.google.com. It will not open the Maps application since it is not recognized as a valid google maps link. You can verify this by openening this bugzilla page in Mobile Safari and then clicking on the links. You will see that both are opened in the browser. The rules that Apple uses for the built-in apps are described at: http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#featuredarticles/iPhoneURLScheme_Reference/Introduction/Introduction.html I understand this is confusing. But this is what the iOS decides to do with those links. We cannot force them to be opened in Maps.app

Naoki, you raise an interesting question. I will create a separate bug to discuss this.
See https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=607172 for discussion about the Youtube link problem.
