Details

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.10) Gecko/20100914 Firefox/3.6.10 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729)
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.9) Gecko/20100915 Thunderbird/3.1.4

When sending a message with an attachment (or multiple attachments), Thunderbird will now often fail to copy the message to the sent mail folder. It will try for several seconds and then time out with an error message ("There was an error copying the message to the Sent folder. Retry?") The retry option results in the same timeout. If I cancel the retry, I get the message "The message was sent successfully, but could not be copied to your Sent folder.
Would you like to return to the compose window?". I have confirmed that the recipients did in fact receive the messages I sent.

This only seems to happen for messages with attachments -- not 100% of the time, but I would say around 80-90%, and I have no idea why on some occasions it doesn't happen. It has not happened for messages without attachments.

This problem started once I upgraded to version 3.1.4. I had no problems of this sort with all previous versions of Thunderbird.

Reproducible: Sometimes

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Compose a message and add one or more attachments.
2. Send the message.
Actual Results:
Most of the time (80-90%) I get the error described above.

Expected Results:
I expected the message to be copied to my sent mail folder like it has always been in the past.

This seems similar to bugs 298229 and 590728, but I cannot confirm whether it is identical or directly related.
Imap ?
Yes, IMAP server
Yup IMAP - long-standing issue https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=413240.

Workarounds not helping.
