I'll take the "Shaver challenge" and go back to using windows as my daily OS for my work on my laptop.  What are we proposing that we switch people to, hardware-wise?  I'm open to suggestions and I'll make a couple of my own below.

I took a look at Beltzner's Alienware M-11X and it seemed like a nice system for the money.  I'll be using it as a dev laptop, so something with a decent amount of RAM is important as well as disk space (going to need to store several trees, SDKs etc in order to make the laptop a viable alternative for development.

Yeah, let's do the i7 and max the RAM for VMs and builds (with 4 on my system I get VMs into hurty mode and the system gets largely unusable; the Windows toolchain isn't too happy with it either).  Make it 2, in fact, because I'm going to donate my special intel-graphics-and-touch-screen snowflake to various a11y/graphics/etc. testing efforts.  Clint and I can be laptop buddies.

That is a lot of computer for $1500.  Nice.  That'll work fine; I'll probably swap my SSD into it if I can, but that's my problem.
