I've been noticing this in SeaMonkey since 2.0.0.
While in HTML (Composer) typing an email or a news post (on a Server that allows such) If you customized your setting for HTML text to say extra Large (from large) and you pause to collect thoughts, (or your interrupted for some reason), text reverts to application default or if at default will shift smaller than normal. requires 5 to 15 second pause.
This did not occur in any SM 1.x versions
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Shift to typing post in HTML
2.Start typing message
3.pause for 5 to 15 seconds (whether for collecting thoughts or being interrupted)
4. Start typing again
Actual Results:
The Font size shifts down in size to default application preset size (normal or if normal to small).
Expected Results:
Font size should remain as set regardless of how long a pause in typing. (Not everyone types at same speed - some have to collect thought as they write to make sure they write what the intend to.)
In url provided is a screen shot of an actual post. Font size should have stayed the same
I can provide another sample later.

Looks like a problem with shared editor code. Moving to MailNews Core. Lots of complaints about unintended font changes in mailnews composition.

Add me to the list of Complaints. No matter what you set as your preferred normal in Preferences, or clicking in the enlarge button. If you pause any amount of time and start typing it reverts to a small size print and you have to enlarge again.
SeaMonkey 1.x did not do this.
SeaMonkey 2.0.14 Mac
current Machine MacBook Pro 2.8 Ghz i7 8 MB 1067 DDR3 Ram.
Also shows up on G4-500 PowerPC 2Gb Ram
Also same on Machine the MacBook Pro replaced, owerBook Pro 2 GB Ram 1.67Ghz machine.

Is this the same as bug 601658?

The only difference between bug 601658 is that Bug is for Thunderbird. but the symptoms given later in the bug (not counting the one I just added are the same or similar.

How is this different than bug 250539 ?
In this bug it seems the change happens automatically when idle. No new paragraphs or bulleted lists needed.
On the other hand, bug 601658 needs an Enter.
So who knows...

Win 7 Thunderbird V24.
The same problem. Editor inserts '<font size="+1">' and corresponding '</font>' at the end. Very bizarre combination of '<font size="+1">' and '</font>' when editing in the middle of the original pair. It seems to occur more often in Replies but not always Sometime I have it, sometimes not.

Using T-Bird 115.14.0 (64-bit) - have set default font to calibri small; composing email in body text mode; is in correct font. move up and insert a line, is back in t-bird's original larger (and uglier) font. Same thing happens if go to bottom of composed text, now hit ENTER, new lines are now back in original font.
yes constant CTRL-A (select all) and reset font will resolve but a major detraction from t-bird for those seeking to escape Outlook.
