I noticed this on nightly when logged into google and trying to visit the following URL:
http://groups.google.com/group/mozilla.tools/browse_thread/thread/aa220af65e98ac52#
Google sends me to an infinite redirect loop. This is a bug on their side, but IIRC Firefox used to be able to detect this (regression?).
I made a simple test page with a meta refresh tag at http://people.mozilla.org/~jhammel/redirect.html ; Sure enough, the page loads indefinitely. Not sure if this is the same issue (since there are so many different kinds of redirects). But it would be nice if FF did inform me of such things.

I just came here because I encountered this with a malformed redirect. No URL, this was on my own box.
