I've tried to explain to a user in a forum today what "Place replies in the folder of the message replied to" does and wanted to point him or her to the Copies & Folders help, when I figured that it isn't explained there.
Thus, I'm filing this to be more specific on the options for "Place copy in", including the "replied to" option. While I'm there, I'm also clarifying the options for Drafts and Templates, and add a similar paragraph for Archives.
This expands in an itemized list on the different options for "Place copy in", but only slightly extends the phrasing for the Drafts, Archives, and Templates selections. It should be best to show the first one in detail while the other three settings essentially follow the same pattern.

FYI, I'll try to look at this on Sunday.
Thanks. This is a slightly updated patch which also adds archiving messages to the introductory paragraphs, I've missed that last night. The remainder of the patch is unchanged.

Which I unfortunately won't be able to. I'll be away the next weekend, so if I haven't gotten to it before friday, you might want to ask somone else.

This should probably either be "with commas..." or "with a comma..."
Not sure which is best, I'll let stefanh comment seeing it is his review ;)
Agreed, if it's "addresses" it has to be "commas" (I'd only say "a comma" if there were always two "addresses", but we don't know the number of those).

Proposed patch (v3)
I think it looks good. The only question is if we should somehow mention somewhere that the "Place replies in the folder ..." option is only valid for certain types of accounts (newgroup accounts doesn't have it for instance). Or is that obvious? The defaults also differs, but we shouldn't worry about that, I think.
I didn't want to make it too long. As far as I can tell, that option isn't visible for newsgroup accounts, thus it should be discoverable that some account types have it and others don't. If you don't see the option you won't need help for it and just ignore that part - I hope. ;-)
That would be short enough, assuming it won't apply to RSS feeds either:
>+
Place replies in the folder of the message replied
>+ to: Select this option for a different handling of replies
>++ in mail accounts. [continue as before]
This just adds three words "in mail accounts" to make it unambiguous.

Thanks, I've already worked out the patch with that change made. We are fine with the Blogs & Feeds, those don't have a Copies & Folders page to start with.
