Indeed, I also have another patch using waitForFocus() while the notification is displayed in the 'noobserve' case. On my local Windows 2000, I found that letting the focus be restored, or even trying to force it, after the notification has disappeared causes bug 589471, in the "alerts + microformats + satchel__this_test". NB: I have no idea why/how this is happening on Windows, nor how notifications work on Linux/MacOSX, but fixing this seems a step in the good direction.

"blocking2.0=?": this bug reminds me of bug 516124 comment 14: { Joe Drew (:JOEDREW!) 2009-11-16 21:22:08 PST [...] if the testcase is showing that there are still bugs latent in this code. } I know these are tests only, but there seems to be something actually odd going on at a lower level, which may (or may not) affect real life cases.

Has this continued to be permanently orange? We see failures to restore focus from time to time on the Firefox tree too.

This was probably fixed in bug 948782, and there don't appear to be any issues with the relevant mochitest nowadays. I'll say "yes".
