When I use A4 papar for printing, some lines are truncated. 1) Start Mozilla 2) Visit www.mozilla.org 3) File -> Print and choose A4 on Print Dialog 4) Print The banner of Mozilla.org is chopped off. Setting margin of Top to 1.0 can be reasonable workaround.
I don't really think this is a bug, you can correct me if I am wrong.. but at the point you set it to A4.. the current margin settings can be off. (which they are). At this point the margins are set.. I don't think the software should change them. The user can set up all the marins at this point to get the A4 setting set up for there printer.

Hi Don. This problem was reported from end user who is using a printer with A4 paper. Some metrix info of the outputs might be wrong when we switch the paper size. What do you think? In Japan, A4 paper is more popular than letter size.
See bug 24405 - the default margins are wrong.

Hi Don: I tend to disagree. When the print dialog comes up, it allows user to pick different paper size. With that in mind, I would expect that the GUI implies that the default margin would be set appropriately upon any changes of paper size. I understand that the user can change the margin to whatever they like/need, but that would sound like a feature to me and not a user-action that they must take.

From my experience.. it is always not a good Idea to change UI if you can help it.. (Disabling, etc are exceptions). I will mark as remind.. since this would be a task I would not get to for a while anyway with the 100+ bugs on my list.

How margin depend on paper size? I used to think that non-printable area depends on device only and do not depend on size of paper you want to print to. Are mozilla margins specify offset from real paper border or or from printable area (same is before but minus device dead zone)? It looks like mozilla (with default offset) tries to print page starting from paper border. If you print page to A4 device using A4 format then page header (doc title and location) is not printed while page footer is on proper place (rigth above printer dead zone) So may be it's not UI but engine problem. Do i miss something?
