let's have a few app-tabs opened. then no other (normal) tabs are opened. In this case you have "open new tab" button on the right.

I'm trying to open new tab by clicking this button. When clicking down left corner, click (hit) area of this button is dead. Exactly the dead area is in the whole left part of the "open new tab" button.

you can override this by simple short-cut (ctrl+t), but for new users it may be a bit confusing.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. have some app-tabs opened
2. no other tabs are opened
3. try to use open new tab button (clicking the left particular part of the button)

Have you already seen this in older beta versions of Firefox 4?
Version: unspecified → Trunk
I'm not completely sure, but I guess that ff4b6 also suffered from this..
I guess this is a duplicate of #608990.
I've been not sure, may be this is a duplicate. Thank's for reporting.
Vaclav, would you have a chance to create a screencast? Is it always reproducible for you? If yes, it would be great if you could test the older beta releases of firefox 4.0: ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases/
of course, no problem with that.

please follow this link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fvmk39CGS00 - and if possible, watch in HD so you can see the tiny area, that is inactive.

video was made with camstudio, so there is unfortunately no "clicking" effect visible.

but Henrik, yes, the problem is reproducible for me at any time.

I've also downloaded ff4b6, but this seems to be ok, I can't see any problem.
Juan, could you please have a look at a native Windows machine in our lab our your personal machine? Via vmware I see some strange things here. When I click the border a new tab shortly visible but gets hidden immediately. After that no new tabs get opened again. But there is also no tabbar update. Not sure if I see a graphics glitch here.

Vaclav, if it's a regression between b6 and b7, it would be great when you could nail down the regression range to a specific date. You would have to bisect the range between b6 and b7 by using our nightly builds, which you can grab from this location:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2010/
great! got it! solved for me.

I've been trying to right-click on the "inactive" area of the button - then I clicked "pin" tab, so an app-tab has shown.. and that's the point - an very old tab has shown to me (I thought this tab has been closed long time ago), it seems the tab has been particulary hidden (stucked) behind my "app-tabs" and particulary been in interfere with "+" button.

please notice (when closing the tab) the sliding effect - tab is sliding to the left side - sliding behind the app-tabs. I think there must occur an error and the tab simply stucked in wrong position.

hope I helped you a bit

love firefox, beta7 made me so happy, really!
Thanks! Does it mean you had a 1px wide tab between the app tabs and the new tab button? That could explain it.
seems to be like you've just described. if You look precisely on the youtube video, you can see approx. 1px difference.

Thank You!
Ok, so the 1px tab issue has been fixed along with bug 585785. Lets mark the bug as WFM. And thanks for your help. Enjoy Beta7 and the upcoming versions.
