616752 - Private Browsing keyboard shortcut appears on Firefox Button menu in some circumstances

The Private Browsing keyboard shortcut appears next to the Private Browsing menu item on the Firefox Button menu, when Private Browsing mode is entered and a new window is opened.

STR:
1. open Firefox
2. Firefox Button > Start Private Browsing (or Ctrl+Shift+P)
3. open new window (Ctrl+N)
4. view Firefox Menu in the new window -- Notice that the new window has the keyboard shortcut next to Private Browsing
5. view Firefox Menu in the first window -- no keyboard shortcut 
6. in new window, Firefox Button > Stop Private Browsing 
7. view Firefox Menu -- Now the first window shows the keyboard shortcut

This keyboard shortcut should never appear in the Firefox Button menu.

I experience this on one of my Windows 7 32-bit systems (a desktop PC), but not on my other one (a Tablet PC), both using Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101204 Firefox/4.0b8pre.

I can't really see any particular reason why this issue occurs on one system but not the other.

I can reproduce the same bug on Ubuntu 10.10 (linux) with Nightly build 6.01a (2011-04-22) following exact steps.

Seems like a generic bug about the new app menu.  I don't think there's anything PB specific here.

I can confirm that this still happens on FF 8.0a1 (2011-08-09 Nightly build). This happens in both Windows and Linux, and has been a bug since the 4.0 days. Any news on a fix/ cause?

Now that private browsing mode has gone, this bug seems to have evaporated. In particular, the STR are no longer applicable. 

I'm closing it as WORKSFORME, if anyone still sees this issue, please reopen.

Indeed, this bug in no more visible using private browsing.

Unfortunately bug #648848 (very close to this one) is still reproducible on 22.0.
