User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 ( .NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101207 Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1.7 Minor UI issue. This can be resolved by relaunching the program. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Click and drag a window-segment-resize handle 2. While dragging, right click 3. You are now unable to resize that section (until you relaunch) Actual Results: Resize section handle now 'bumps' about 5px and can not be dragged Expected Results: Should be able to be dragged as normal God-speed gentlemen.
Works for me on XP with Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101207 Lightning/1.0b2 Thunderbird/3.1.7

The intended functionality. I tried clicking and dragging the splitter, then right-clicking and releasing, then releasing the left mouse button, and it works fine afterwards. It also works fine if I release the left mouse button first and then the right mouse button. One thing to note is that in the second case, it appears to be bringing up an empty context menu (it's a little grey square), so you have to click once to dismiss it.
Mike your issue might come from some installed extension can you try in -safe-mode (see http://support.mozillamessaging.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode) ?
Nope, I opened in safe mode and problem persists. Here is a video for clarification: http://mike-wright.com/thunderbird/ThunderBird.html (after the instructions in the video, it is assumed the user has released both mouse buttons)
Nice clarification, WFM with Mozilla/5.0 (Macintosh; Intel Mac OS X 10.5; rv:2.0b10pre) Gecko/20110111 Thunderbird/3.3a2pre
WFM too here Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:12.0a1) Gecko/20111224 Thunderbird/12.0a1 => closed as WFM per comment #1, #6 and #7: Mike feel free to reopen it if for you don't work with latest stable relase of TB
