When surfing the internet, often we save pictures to our computer. When saving many picture we often click by mistake the "Send image..." instead of "Save image as...." which causes an external program to emerge and practically does not allow the user to continue using the external Email software until it is closed.

Moreover, the "Send image..." function is rarely used, while the "Save image as..." is often used which makes a lot of confusion. When a user saves an image in 99% of the cases the last thing that he/she wants to do is to send the image by Email, and even sending by Email is rarely done using a software, but usually done through the browser itself using websites such as yahoo mail, gmail, etc'

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.surf to a website which contains images
2.Click "Save image as..." and save the image to the local hard drive
3. repeat #1,#2 many times and see in how many cases you click by mistake "Send image"

Expected Results:
"Save image as..." menu must be far from "Send Image"
Severity: normal → enhancement
OS: Windows Vista → All
Hardware: x86 → All
Summary: "Send image..." is too close to "Save image as..." → Reorganize "Send image..." and "Save image as..."

This has been renamed "Email image..." so perhaps that would help clear up the confusion and reduce the possibility of mixing up the two options.

t8av, do you think that addresses your concern here, well enough to resolve this bug?

Yes, the new title is OK. Thanks.

Now I notice that also "Set as desktop background" is rarely or never used, and makes confusion when trying to save images to local disk.

My new suggestion is to let the user an option to eliminate the "Email image..." and "Set as desktop background" actions.

I guess that most users will choose not to see these two actions.
bug 770419 comment 10 mentions the string change to "Email image..." was chosen instead of removing that context menu item, and it's unlikely editing of the context menu will be added as a core feature while a capable extension exists:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/menu-editor/
Changing the summary to match comment 3, recommend WONTFIX.
Summary: Reorganize "Send image..." and "Save image as..." → Add options to eliminate the "Email image..." and "Set as desktop background" item actions from the context menu
I think that the best solution is to move all the rarely-used (or never-used) actions to a sub menu "more actions".

Please file a new bug for this as it's really a separate enhancement request that could co-exist with the options this bug is now about.
I should mention the original STR in comment 0 describe downloading multiple images from a webpage, which is better managed from the "Page Info" context menu item, "Media" section which shows selected images in a preview, and allows multiple images to be saved using the "Save as..." button in that dialog.

Done. See:

I am curious to know if there is a person on this planet who uses the "Email image..." option.

Please let me know whenever you find one.
