User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2.13) Gecko/20101203 Firefox/3.6.13 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) [all relevant details are in the Summary and the Reproducing section.] Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open a PDF file in a tab (by clicking a link to it, copy-pasting its url, or whatever). 2. Before the PDF has finished loading, switch focus to a different tab (I've only done it with tabs that were already open before opening the PDF). Actual Results: The keyboard works normally until the PDF finishes loading. When the PDF finishes loading (the dots-changing-shade-around-a-circle in the tab heading gets replaced by the favicon icon of the PDF's page), the keyboard stops responding (if the focus is in a page, the arrow keys no longer work for scrolling, Ctrl-T and Ctrl-Tab don't work, etc; if the focus is in the address bar or search bar, nothing shows up when you type). Once you switch focus to something else and then switch back, the keyboard works again. Expected Results: The keyboard should work normally the whole time.

Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile What PDF reader and version are you running?

Isn't this just about the already known "Plugin can steal Keyboard Events" Bug?

probably related to bug 626813. XtC4UaLL: that one is different, that is about focused plugins in the active Tab. In this case the plugin is in a background tab and should never receive events.

My bad, it's happening here too with Reader X. How to reproduce it : Just swap your tab while the pdf is loading, keyboard doesn't work anymore.

this is not a dupe of the resolved bug 537325, and is still an issue on Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:5.0a2) Gecko/20110418 Firefox/5.0a2 and reader X follow the str in comment 0 while ensuring you load a non-cached pdf which would take some time, allowing the described steps. btw it happens also with new tabs.

Seems to be a duplicate of bug 273456 (bug 315513 is too). Please reopen if you can describe any difference.
