Build: 2000121514, Mac OS 9.0, both Classic and Modern To reproduce: * Click on a long popup menu or pull-down menu, such as a font popup menu in the Fonts prefs panel, or the Bookmarks menu in the personal toolbar with a long list of bookmarks. * Move the mouse so that it is hovering directly above or below the menu -- that is, beyond the auto-scroll triangles and off the edge of the menu, but still in the same horizontal region. What should happen: * The menu auto-scrolls, just as if you were hovering over the auto-scroll triangle itself. What actually happens: * Nothing. This makes XP Toolkit menus much harder to auto-scroll than native menus. Normally you can shove the mouse into the top or bottom edge of the screen as hard as you like, and the menu will still scroll -- so with native menus the target area is effectively several hundred pixels high, but in Mozilla it's only about 12 pixels.

This isn't how it seems to work on Windows...(although Windows apps each have to design their own autoscroll behavior).
Well if each application on Windows has different behavior, we may as well take the approach which makes the target area many times larger than any other approach, right?

Status report while looking through my votes: A pre-0.9.8 build (2002012304 on Windows ME) still has this problem.
This bug is targeted at a Mac classic platform/OS, which is no longer supported by mozilla.org. Please re-target it to another platform/OS if this bug applies there as well or resolve this bug. I will resolve this bug as WONTFIX in four weeks if no action has been taken. To filter this and similar messages out, please filter for "mac_cla_reorg".
Misbehavior is still present in 1.5b on Windows 2000. When I pass the mouse pointer through the bottom of the menu, I get either the misbehavior of this bug (if I move slowly) or the misbehavior of bug 51004 (if I move quickly). Changing bug's HW/OS. If anybody else sees this problem on Linux or Mac OS X, please say so.

I see this with Firefox 1.5 beta 1 on Mac OS X.
I still have this problem on version 2.0.0.6 on Windows XP. Wheel click results in the scroll reticle appearing, but when the mouse is moved there is no screen movement. Auto scroll still works with all other programs except Mozilla products.
