I often don't see 6 featured add-ons in the disco pane, one is often missing. I'm guessing this is because I already have it installed, but we should be sending more than 6 add-ons so that back-ups can take the place.

I also only see 5, but even without the query string: https://services.addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/discovery/pane/4.0b13pre/Linux Which makes me think there are only 5 featured add-ons compatible with 4.0b13pre and Linux. What is your URL and are you sure there are enough featured add-ons?

All featured add-ons are compatible with Firefox 4 and with all platforms. There are way more than 6.
