User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Thunderbird/3.1.9

Having read all my emails, if I compact or don't compact my inbox and Rebuild the summary file, Thunderbird will show the icons for new messages since last check and will mark some emails as unread.

Ideally, having rebuilt the summary file I expect it to remain visually the same as the first screen shot. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium with Thunderbird 3.1.9.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.Mark all emails as read
2.Rebuild the index / Repair folder
Actual Results:
Thunderbird will show the icons for new messages since last check on several random emails and will mark some emails as unread

Expected Results:
Kept the emails read the same as before the folder was repaired
Is this over imap ?
if these are local messages, my guess would be that they don't have x-mozilla-status headers for us to store the read state, perhaps because they were imported somehow. If you delete a message and then compact the folder, we will add x-mozilla-status headers to messages that are missing them at compact time.

They were downloaded from the pop server, when closing and reopening thunderbird it remembers which emails have been read. Only when rebuilding the index file it slips up.
William, all better now?
