Build Identifier: TBird 3.1.9
After getting a new Intel iMac (not the latest generation) - I discovered that all my folders & emails from TBird had been copied into my DSL server acct. (Windstream had just set up a new email system on their server, so I logged on to check out their new features.) I was horrified to see my personal emails online there. When I deleted them from the Windstream server acct, I later saw that they were gone from my TBird program when I reopened it offline. (It was completely shut down when I was online at Windstream deleting the old emails there.) Apparently, I had only been viewing my emails remotely and they had never actually been on my computer. And yes, I had noticed that Tbird was unusually slow in loading emails for me to view - wondered about that too - now I know why. The master TBird file did have all messages copied that had been thru that program (I had to go thru about 6000 versions to get back the 500 I had lost). Norton has scanned my Mac for problems, none, but the Firewall is continually blocking suspicious connection attempts. So - is this a TBird bug or is it an infected/targeted Windstream server? I have heard that GMail has recently been heavily targeted by hackers. I need to know where the fault lies as Windstream DSL is the only DSL game in this little mountain village.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Create new folders
2.Get mail from Windstream server
3.Log on to Windstream server directly - all reproduced online, including emails I have sent from TBird.
Actual Results:
If deleted from Windstream - also disappear from TBird, whether offline or online.
Expected Results:
I expect emails fetched from DSL server to be automatically deleted when I fetch them to my computer with TBird - according to my settings on Windstream email acct. This is not happening.
As on my older mac mini - TBird should be fetching the emails and they should be automatically deleted on Windstream server. And certainly, my sent emails & drafts should not be uploaded to Windstream - while hard copies are erased from computer. Is it a Windstream hacker or a TBird bug? Please help. Windstream says it's not them.

The problem is with the automatic synching in Thunderbird. I can't find a way to turn it off and I have tried, so I have created local folders on my computer to download my emails to. The only choices I have for synchronization are: all messages or keep them synched for a certain number of days. And I also have checked: download all messages to this computer. Nothing offered to turn off synchronization.
