It would be very useful to have an option to save replies/forwards in the same folder as the origonal message.

If you're referring to your outgoing messages, did you know you can use the menu item Option|File Sent Message to store a copy of that message in a particular folder (a copy to this destination in addition to the folder specified in the Copies&Folders pref within Account Settings)?

Oh, Option|File Sent Message is within the message composition window and applies only to that one outgoing message.
