User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 5.1; rv:2.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0

When I use Firefox 4.0 to access Google Finance, like this URL: http://www.google.ca/finance/historical?cid=22144&startdate=Apr+20%2C+2000&enddate=Apr+19%2C+2011&num=30

I have problems when trying to select MONTHS with the MOUSE using the "pop-up" calendar, the calendar shows up, when you click on the left and right arrow on upper part of the Pop-up Calender nothing change ! Just the date for the current month can be changed with the mouse.. I can only enter month manually with the keyboard.

-1- I've tried with IExplorer and it work fine.

-2- Same Problem happen with in Safe-Mode or standard mode with FF4 on WinXX

-3- Same problem happen on 2 anothers differents computers with FF4

On the 3 computers with FF4 4.0 on different windows platform XP SP3 and Vista with Firefox 4.0 with Java enabled, The Pop-up Calender ARROW don't work. But on the same 3 computers it work with Internet Explorer.

Also Right Now I've just installed in a fresh Win Xp SP3 English virtual machine Firefox 4 plain brand New and the same thing happen.

I've installed Minefield 6.01a LATEST on a new VM machine with Win XP New and same thing happen.

Someone have a solution ?

From the Googling I do, i'm not alone with this problem but no clue !

So it's really a bug I'd appreciate your help !

Regards

Mikha

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Go on http://www.google.ca/finance/historical?cid=22144&startdate=Apr+20%2C+2000&enddate=Apr+19%2C+2011&num=30
2. Click with left mouse button on the "FieldBox" (where the date is "Apr 20, 2000"
3. The PopUp Calendar appear and try to change the month (APRIL) with the mouse.
Actual Results:
The "popup calender" disappear and nothing change. The month stay the same.

Expected Results:
The Month should change, when you click on the back or front arrow of the pop-up calendar

You can change the day of the current month in the pop-up calender with the mouse but not the month itself trough the arrows.

Even minefield latest revision is affected.

Many peoples over the web have reported the bug at the wrong place. So I decided to test it on clean machine with different OS.

I have not tested with version lower than FF 4.0
Version: unspecified → 4.0 Branch
Reproduced with a new clean profile.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:6.0a1) Gecko/20110419 Firefox/6.0a1
OS: Windows XP → All
Hardware: x86 → All
But works for me with new clean profile and:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686 (x86_64); en-US; rv:1.9.2.16) Gecko/20110319 Firefox/3.6.16
I confirm from the research I've done on Windows platform that version 3.x.x of Firefox are not affected.

In local build,
Yes, I confirm the patch fixes this problem.
Depends on: 641598
Alice or Timothy,

Could you build me a .mar file (french version) to update firefox 4.0 to 4.0.1 (french) with the integration of "patch in bug 641598" ?

Or even a complete (French Build of latest nightly 4.0.x french with the patch ?

I'd appréciate and like to test it on my different computers and OS.

Regards
Will give a try Tomorrow Thx !

I've try the Builds of MS2GER on XP sp3 and Vista and I confirm too that the patch fix the this problem too.

After the Upgrade to the latest 2011-04-26 Nightly update the bug was back.

Btw:
So I'm not familiar with the Bugzilla procedure, I'd like to know who will take over this Bug/Fix to be incorporated in 4.x version and 6.x version ?

Also I'd like if someone can explain me how I can build with the TryServer a 4.x French version Patched since I don't have a C Compiler.

Best regards
Thanks for testing. "All" that needs to be done is that Timothy figures out what was wrong with the patch in bug 641598. (That patch doesn't pass all our automated tests, and as such can't be shipped.) I don't know how long that will take.

Once that's done, we can land it for Firefox 6 (which will ship September 22, if I did my maths right). It's possible that the bug will be fixed for Firefox 4 or 5, but you shouldn't count on that.
It become more urgent taht somebody fix this bug, since today GOOGLE beginned to use Calendar in their search sidebar and others many places. So it become very annoying to use FF version 4 and over crippled with this bug.

We can'T even choose the date in the new Calendar !

PS: Also I'd like if someone can explain me the procedure to build a personnal 4.1.x French version Patched test "version" with the TryServer

HELP !!!!
Even now in "Google Translate" page We have lost 75% of the functionality with Firefox not able to click on most of the place, cause the interface it's only driven by mouse. FF4.x and over will become unusable on all Google site soon... and Nobody answer my question about how use the TryServer to patch a version :(
Severity: major → critical
It's Crazy this morning for the first time, I'm obligated to use Internet Explorer... :( Because the Bug FireFox no longer work with Google Translation and many other pages in Google Domain.

So it's MAJOR NOW !!!! Not to be able to use FireFox with Google Domain is a BIG Turn Out to use Firefox :(

Also sad to see taht nobody answer to help me with my request... :( Sad...
Summary: Mouse click don't work in Google Finance Calendar for changing months with the Arrow on calendar. → FIREFOX 4.x is BROKEN to USE with 75% of GOOGLE pages ---> Mouse click don't work
Which are the Steps To Reproduce this bug with a new, clean profile on the Google Translate page?
@Thomas

But keep in mind that's not at lest 75% pages of Google that are affected now.... I can report other if you want.. but I will begin with Google Translate. (I apologize for my English but my native language is French... )

1- Go to his URL :http://translate.google.com/translate_t?complete=0&hl=&ie=UTF-8&text=J%27aime+les+bonnes+pomme+d%27automne.+&sl=es&tl=en#

2- You will find you to try to translate "J'aime les bonnes pomme d'automne." It's a French sentence.

3- In the "field" FROM: you will see a button labeled SPANISH with the other labeled ANGLAIS (English)

4- Click on the button labeled SPANISH to try to change it to FRENCH (the sentence is in French.

5- You will see the drop down menu, but you will be stuck, NOT able to choose any languages.

6- Same thing happen if you want to change the output language, from ENGLISH to DUTCH It don't work !

4 - Try now to click on the LISTEN button, Nothing happen, It don't work no more.

5 - Now Try to click on the Keyboard Icon (on the lower right corner of the text box ) to enter or or change the text from the Virtual Keyboard... You don't even see the Virtual keyboard... Broken again.

Let's try another one :

1- Enter this URL: http://translate.google.com/#complete=0&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&auto|en|j%27aime%20les%20auto%20de%20course

2- You should see the "translator" translate the FRENCH sentence "j'aime les auto de course"

3- and the out put will show you in ENGLISH: "I like auto racing"

4- So the word AUTO is not the good translation...

5- In the Field: "French to English translation" Click on the word "AUTO" to see the suggestions in a "drop down list", It don't work nothing happen.

6-Usually you click on the word auto to choose from a drop down list of suggestion with the English words "CARS and SELF" you should be able to choose the one you like or suggest to google a good one.

Another One:

1- Go to that URL : http://translate.google.com/#en|fr|I%20love%20my%20girlfriend

2-It will translate the english sentence "I love my girlfriend" to French "J'aime ma petite amie"

3- Try to click on the "listen button" under the French translation to listen the pronunciation in French.

4- Nothing happen, it don't work no more.

Try the same in Internet Explorer or other major Browser it work ! :(

---------------------------------

I don't understand why we have a patch, and it's work why nobody work on this URGENT issue ????

PS1: The issue affect each week, more and more page, because Google update their interface and change their code to the one that FF broke on ! :(

So Google Gmail all the main Google page or sub-domain of Google are affected. So if we want to keep Firefox alive we have to fix that code on number 1 priority.. since google it's the main engine.

Keep in mind (Everybody from "Bugzilla" that the day when Google will change the search Button AKA "Google Search" with the new code is soon...

For me now the only things that keep me from remove FF it's the extension and personalization... but I can't no more recommend to my custommer base to use it... :(

PS2: Also I'd like if someone can explain me the procedure to build a personal 4.1.x French version Patched test "version" with the TryServer

Regards !
All STR in comment 19 works for me with a new, clean profile.
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0.1) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/4.0.1

(But I can still reproduce the bug with the calender in Google finance.)
Testing Nightly and all STR in comment 19 works for me with a new, clean profile.

@Thomas Have you try in WindowsXP or over clean install too ?
Will try again today with a new clean install to double check.... with Firefox/4.0.1
Even a new clean install will still use your old profile. You should try a fresh new profile too http://kb.mozillazine.org/Creating_a_new_Firefox_profile_on_Windows
All STR in comment 19 WFM with a new, clean profile and Windows XP SP3.

@Thomas You're Right..

I assumed that nothing have changed on my test Firefox installation, but there was a minor update in a BFB script that I miss that cause the glitch... So I send a quick message to the authors, cause the script ha over 100,000 user now on FB.

Sorry for my mistakes... to much work at same time.

BTW: I'm not able to listen the "sound" with the listen button of the translation. Do you know a utility that tell me who's FF try to call to play the sound of this "event" ???

I know it's my configuration the problem on clean machine it's work fine...

Apologize for being a little bit of topic with the sound issue, but i'd like to have a clue, I disabled all extension, script, and it does not work. Yes I can listen other sounds. I know the button is in Flash disabled I don't see the button, but don't know what he trigger ????

Thanks Thomas for your quick help !
The sound in Google translate is of type application/x-shockwave-flash from http://www.gstatic.com/translate/sound_player2.swf which is Macromedia Flash data (compressed), version 8.

In Tools/Options/Applications you should see what action is triggered by "Shockwave Flash File (application/x-shockwave-flash)".

I think the sound generated in a FlashPlayer plugin isn't further handled by Firefox, but is sent directly to the computer's sound system.
The original problem from comment 0, inability to change months in Google Finance, reproduced:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:8.0a1) Gecko/20110727 Firefox/8.0a1

I've edited the summary. Suggest we also reduce the importance of this bug to a more sane severity level.
Summary: FIREFOX 4.x is BROKEN to USE with 75% of GOOGLE pages ---> Mouse click don't work → Mouse click doesn't work in Google Finance for changing months with the arrows on the calendar
Severity: critical → normal
