Currently tabs are presented tiled horizontally. Users are used to seeing there tabs presented in a linear manner. Perhaps reserve tab tiling for a tab management screen based on panorama?

I'm not sure what this bug is about. Tab thumbnails are shown vertically, then wrap horizontally.

It's about stopping the horizontal wrapping.

Found this request again a couple times from folks offline; they would rather see to it the ability to scroll through tabs vertically rather than seeing the sidebar compounded with multiple columns.
So when there are many tabs, instead of adding multiple columns, perhaps the tabs could be stacked up on each other and partly sticking out? Opera Mobile has something like that.

Can we not simply have vertical scrolling tabs as it. Opera's almost-rollerdex implementation doesn't actually fit with our model. It's alien both to the experience we promote on desktop and to logic.
What do you mean? On desktop, the tabs shrink also, when more are added, no?
Shrinking is are far from overlapping though. I'm all for shrinking the tabs. vertically so we only show half of the thumbnail as opposed to all. But certainly the core behaviour is that tabs are placed adjacently as opposed to overlapping.
This would also fix the inconsistency of Bug 659602.

I'm in favor of this.
It would resolve bug 662302.
I think it would also take care of some UI weirdness when launching and restoring multiple columns of tabs.

Why can't we have vertical scrolling (without overlap or shrinking)? I don't think it's especially alien, since we can scroll the tabs horizontally the way it is now.
