The iX machines in scl1 are hard to catch in BIOS to force a netboot. The recommendation from iX was to enable portfast, since if IPMI is on a shared nic, the link flap at boot sets off STP and we lose connectivity for most of the duration of the BIOS screen. This matters most on sw2a through sw5a.scl1, but we might as well get sw7a through sw14a while we're at it.
Got in new switches for RelEng and for lab use so we can test the impact of doing this before actually doing this.
Configuring each Procurve with 'no spanning-tree' will disable it on the switch with no ill effects. Verified by configuring a test switch in SCL1. Interface state does not change and there is no data loss at disabling. Need to coordinate a time with RelEng to apply the change. Zandr, we will wait for that window.
Punt back with a scheduled time.
