RESOLVED DUPLICATE of bug 230247

People

(Reporter: pch, Unassigned)

Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0
Build ID: 20110615151330

Steps to reproduce:

Reply to a message received from a sourceforge mailing list.

Actual results:

The "To" header in the message is set to the address of the mailinglist. Only the "Envelope-to" header is set to my own address. This one is an alias of my main address. Thunderbird uses the first address of the respective account in the "From" header of the sent mail.

Expected results:

Thunderbird could have tried harder to find out the "From" address when replying: it should have used the address in the "Envelope-to" header as "From" address in the mail sent.

Thunderbird uses the correct "From" address when the replied to mail has an alias of respective account in the "To" header. But if that is not one of mine, it should take a look at the "Envelope-to" header, to determine, and - if that one appears in the accounts list of addresses - use that as the "From".
Rereading my report, the Actual results section might be stated more clearly:

Thunderbird chooses the first address for same account as a "From", as the "To" header of the to be replied message, ... etc.
