Details

User Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; WOW64; rv:5.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/5.0
Build ID: 20110615151330

Steps to reproduce:

Read newly received e-mail or RSS entries

Actual results:

When the e-mail or RSS entry was received, the relevent entries in the folder pane become bold and highlighted. This behaviour is correct.

However, since upgrading to Thunderbird 5.0 they often remain highlighted even after all new messages have been read. In most cases, it only reverts to black after selecting a different folder in the folder pane. This gives the incorrect suggestion that new unread messages remain. In one instance, the header of the RSS feeds ("Blogs and newsfeeds") remained blue even after I switched to a different folder and would not return to normal until I restarted Thunderbird.

I have been using Thunderbird for a long time and have not experienced this behaviour in any earlier version, while I see it on a daily basis now.

Expected results:

After the last new message has been read, the folder should immediately lose highlighed status, its color changing from blue back to black. In addition, if no unread messages remain at all, it should also lose its bold font.

I have 2 folders now that have this issue except after a restart of Thunderbird they are now bold black with no unread messages in it.

Not resolved as I am still seeing it in version 11.0.1
How do I reopen the bug?

Erik the reporter no longer sees the problem. So the correct action would be to find an existing bug [1] that matches your issue. Or finding none, ffile a new bug.

[1] I think I have a better query someowhere, but this one will have to do for now - https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced;short_desc_type=allwordssubstr;resolution=---;type0-0-0=nowords;value0-0-0=count%20counts;product=MailNews%20Core;product=Thunderbird;short_desc=bold%20folder;list_id=2866418
