+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #648330 +++ We're gonna have a first run page for Aurora, so we need Aurora to open it. The URL should stay in the form of http://www.mozilla.com/%LOCALE%/%APP%/%VERSION%/firstrun If I'm not mistaken, %VERSION% would be 8.0a2 when Aurora 8 will be released?
Just want to be sure this will part of the merge on Tuesday. Can anyone confirm that they have it on their radar?
hi rik, did you get confirmation that we are good to go here? thanks!
No.
(In reply to Anthony Ricaud (:rik) from comment #3) > No. let me know if i can help in following here from mountain view. we want to makre sure it makes it this time around. thanks again for your help!
We need to know who is gonna do the mozilla-central -> mozilla-aurora merge to take care of this.
Correction, the URL should be http://www.mozilla.com/%APP%/%VERSION%/firstrun. The pref for this is startup.homepage_welcome_url
Looking at http://mxr.mozilla.org/mozilla-aurora/source/browser/branding/aurora/pref/firefox-branding.js it seems that this wasn't done during yesterday's merge. Can someone confirm?
Yes, I can confirm. It wasn't deemed critical to have at the cutover, just we should get it in sometime. We also need a reviewed patch. Also, I believe this means that a new tab (what's new) will open after every software update, which we actually *don't* want as aurora updates are pretty much every day. I'm actually not 100% sure on the behavior though.
Oh I didn't know Aurora was updating so often. Then yeah, it's probably not a good idea to do that. Should we close as WONTFIX then?
So correction: This is about the first run page, which is only shown after an installation.

This doesn't need to be tied to any merges. We can just make the change now to the aurora branding pref file.
I think this is WONTFIX.
